Lerf is built with a deliberate focus on collecting as little as possible. The app stores your preferences and runs entirely on your device, and asks nothing of you in return.
Inside the app, we do not collect your name, email, phone number, contacts, location, photos, microphone input, or any audio recordings. The only place we collect an email is the optional device waitlist on our website, described below.
If you join the waitlist for the upcoming Lerf device on our website, we store the email address you enter so we can email you about that device. Along with it we store limited, non-identifying technical detail that arrives with the request — your browser's user-agent string and an approximate country derived from your connection, not your precise location.
We use this email only to contact you about the device. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it. The waitlist is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes and stores the entry on our behalf. You can ask us to delete your email at any time by contacting us.
We do not have user accounts. We do not require sign-up. We do not show advertisements. We do not sell, rent, or share data with advertisers. We do not track you across other apps or websites.
Apple handles all in-app purchases, subscription billing, refunds, and receipts under Apple's own privacy policy.
PostHog, if analytics are enabled in your settings, receives the anonymous usage events described above for the sole purpose of helping us improve the app. PostHog's privacy policy applies to its handling of that data.
Cloudflare hosts our website and stores device-waitlist entries (see above) on our behalf, under Cloudflare's own privacy policy.
We do not work with any other third party that receives information about you.
Lerf is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will delete it.
You can disable analytics at any time in the app's Settings. You can request deletion of any data we may hold by contacting us. Because we don't tie data to your identity, we may not always be able to confirm specific data on request — but we will delete what we can identify.
When this policy changes materially, we update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify users in-app. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
